0.1.0-alpha.8 · TESTING BUILD
A clearer
view of your channels.
Channels and voice participants form one compact tree. Related controls stay together, and softer light and dark colours follow your system appearance.

WHAT CHANGED
Grouped controls.
Softer light and dark colours.
Friends, recent people and clearer chat
The right sidebar now shows personal saved Friends, synchronized across your approved devices, followed by Recent people stored only on this client. Add a friend from a person’s right-click menu or Recent. A saved friend does not grant channel access or expose online presence.
Back is at the top-left of settings and management workspaces. Channel managers can save a new channel name in Channel settings. Chat sender names are subdued, regular-weight labels above slightly indented message text. The push-to-talk bar uses a soft green background while you are transmitting.
Refresh the web app or restart your existing alpha.8 desktop client. Multi-server public joins and shortcut links remain under specification review and are not enabled in this update.
One channel tree
Voice participants appear beneath their channel, with branches you can expand or collapse. The separate member sidebar and padded channel cards are gone. Channel members, including people who are not in voice, remain available from the conversation header.
Opening a context menu does not select or join its channel. Selecting another text channel leaves active voice where it is. Voice connection and push-to-talk state remain visible below the main workspace.
Menus and workspaces
Person menus group Volume for me, Mute for me and Reset volume, followed by identity verification and any moderator commands you are allowed to use. Moderator commands apply to the named channel, including when you are reading another channel.
User settings, channel creation and properties now occupy the main workspace. Member management uses a searchable table with details beside the selection. Actions that need confirmation explain the effect inline and provide Confirm/Cancel controls.
Conversations, replies and thread calls
Chat now groups consecutive messages from the same person. Your own messages have a soft lavender accent, and pauses longer than two minutes show a small time marker. Reply opens the conversation directly beneath the original message, with replies retained across reloads.
Join voice on a conversation starts a separate call. People in the channel call or another thread cannot hear it. Channel access and moderation still apply; moving to another call requires a fresh push-to-talk press. Select a channel to open its chat, then select it again to join channel voice. Selecting an already connected channel keeps the call open.
Refresh the web app or restart the existing alpha.8 desktop client. No new installer is required.
Light and dark appearance
The app now supplies softer colours: blue-grey surfaces and lavender accents in dark mode, with pale blue-grey surfaces and deeper lavender in light mode. Your operating system or browser selects the mode, and changes apply while the app is running.
The alpha.8 KDE wrapper detects light/dark appearance without replacing the app colours with your desktop palette. High-contrast forced-colour settings still take precedence. Refresh the browser or restart your existing desktop client to receive this refinement; no reinstall is needed.
Keyboard access
Use arrow keys to move through the channel tree, and Left/Right to collapse or expand branches. Shift+F10 opens the focused entry’s menu. Escape dismisses a menu and returns focus. Settings leave the tree available and do not trap Tab navigation.
Ctrl+K finds channels and Ctrl+Alt+H opens keyboard help. While recording a PTT binding, use Cancel recording so Escape can itself be recorded. Open settings and menus keep the microphone off; speaking afterward requires a fresh press.
Updating and testing
Close the desktop app before installing. Normal updates preserve device keys and settings. Web users can reload. Existing alpha.7 desktop clients receive the shared interface on restart; install alpha.8 for KDE appearance detection and native startup-window changes.
This remains an unsigned testing release. Physical Windows, joystick and in-game PTT testing, human listening and international network checks remain necessary. The new member table is approved for use and can be refined after practical feedback.
Long-call reliability is still under investigation. The previous longer hosted test encountered voice-renewal delays and disconnected clients. A stable one-hour call is not yet verified. This interface release does not change that result.
Channel type, visibility and encryption remain fixed at creation. Account identity, device approval, history boundaries and explicit voice movement retain their existing rules.
